Q: I am a WAsP/WEng/WAT/TerrainEditor user, can I do everything through PyWAsP now?

A: No, PyWAsP is not a replacement for the WAsP/WEng/WAT/TerrainEditor GUIs. PyWAsP is a complement to the GUIs, and is intended to be used for automating tasks, batch processing, and for creating custom workflows. However, more and more of the functionality of the GUIs will be added to PyWAsP on an ongoing basis.

Q: I want to raise an issue or contribute a feature to PyWAsP, is that possible?

A: PyWAsP is closed-source and we currently do not accept contributions. But, if you have a feature request or bug report, please raise an issue on the WAsP forum.

Q: What are the systems requirements for PyWAsP?

A: There are no specific requirements for PyWAsP, but it is recommended to use a 64-bit Python installation via Mambaforge https://github.com/conda-forge/miniforge#mambaforge. PyWAsP has been tested on Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.04. And OS-X will be included in the future. Smaller applications/sites will have no problem running on a standard laptop, but for larger applications/sites a more powerful computer with plenty of RAM is recommended.

Q: Are you going to add support for installing via pip?

A: We want to make it as easy as possible to install PyWAsP, so we are looking into adding support for pip. However, no date has been set for this yet.

Q: Is there a student license for pywasp?

A: If you are a DTU affiliated student, you can get a free research license for PyWAsP. Please contact the DTU Wind Energy software team.

Q: Is there a evaluation license for pywasp?

A: Not exactly. However, when you order a PyWAsP license, you receive the license immediately, and you can use it for 30 days without any payment or restrictions. After 30 days, we send the invoice. If you decide that PyWAsP is not for you, you can simply not pay the invoice and tell us that you are opting out. This way, you can evaluate PyWAsP without any risk.

Q: Can one pywasp license key be used by several individuals?

A: Yes, one PyWAsP license key can be used by several individuals, but the total number of runs performed by all users will be counted towards the license limit.

Q: Is DTU the only authorized seller of the PyWasp software?

A: Yes, DTU Wind Energy is the only authorized seller of the PyWAsP software.
